National Pilot Partnership to Increase Opportunities for Small Businesses

Gray; Department of Local and Small Business Development (DSLBD) Director Harold Pettigrew; U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Deputy Administrator Marie Johns; U.S. Treasury Department Assistant Secretary for Management Dan Tangherlini, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Management Chris Cummiskey; D.C. Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Barbara Lang; and Virtual Enterprise Architects, LLC President/CEO LaKeshia Grant will discuss a local-federal partnership to increase opportunities for D.C. small businesses.

BACKGROUND: Mayor Gray outlined his New Economy strategy in his State of the District Address. HUBDC is a local-federal partnership that supports diversified and resilient businesses envisioned by the Mayor, and demonstrates his strategy. Through this national pilot, the District will partner with the federal government to maximize small business participation in SBA’s Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program.
